Sometimes I call you Mom…

We spend a lot of time together at daycare. In this fast-paced world, you’re like a magician who stops time… to give us time to be children.

I can see that you love us! Your arms welcoming us in the morning, your encouraging smile when we manage to get our shoes on, your cooking that smells so good as dinner approaches, your concern when we’re sick, the new toys you’ve just bought for the sandbox, the thousand and one activities you suggest and your kisses galore… as if nothing could ever dry them up.

So, sometimes, I call you Mom. Because I don’t understand it, of course, but mostly because I feel good with you…

This week you’ve made us all do DIY for Mother’s Day, without thinking that you too deserve all our gratitude. I know that sometimes I leave a little too quickly and forget to say thank you for the beautiful day, but today I want to tell you lots of things for which I don’t yet have words. To tell you that your care for us will leave an imprint on our children’s hearts, that your love will have taught us to love in return and that, when I grow up and the sweet memories of the past resurface, I’ll remember the peace we felt when we read a story. Even when I’ve forgotten your name, the feeling of having been loved will remain.

Happy Mother’s Day to my Educator and thank you… thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking such good care of us.
